Perpendicular to Rua Miguel Bombarda, Rua do Rosário is, today, an artery with a life of its own, from healthy food to urban art, from design to stores that are also art galleries.

At the end of Rua de Miguel Bombarda, there is an artery that runs through the heart of the famous arts quarter of Cedofeita. It is a more discreet and hidden street, but whose dynamics have been accelerating over the last few years.

It owes its name to Domingos de Almeida, businessman and uncle of the Porto writer Almeida Garrett. The owner and resident of the land where the current street was located, religious and especially devoted to Nossa Senhora do Rosário, decided to name the street after the saint, having even changed his own name to Domingos do Rosário de Almeida.

On the corner of Rua Dom Manuel II, which overlooks Jardim do Carregal and Hospital de Santo António, there is an old building that holds an important memory of the History of Portugal. There is the luxurious Hotel do Louvre, where D. Pedro II of Brazil, son of D. Pedro IV, stayed for eight days, during his visit to Porto, in 1872.

In recent decades, the Bombarda neighborhood, popularly known as the «Arts District», has become a point of convergence for artists from various areas. And, if previously, the main street concentrated most of the galleries and ateliers, today Rua do Rosário is a strong competitor, filled from one end to the other with spaces to eat healthy, buy exclusive pieces or see an exhibition in a place that is also a coworking space.
